[edit] Wiki Editing

The wiki is a busy place. To make sure we all understand what changes are being made please

  • Put a quick note describing what you have done in the summary box when you save your edits.

This makes Recent Changes much more useful. Plus you can

  • Use the 'Show Preview' box to make sure that any wikitext is correct, before you save the edits

Comments are important since some fake users have deleted content. (Likely just 'bots' as the deletions appear to be completely random). Comments help our sysops decide which edits were legit and which were malicious. Thanks!

Also there is a wiki training being held this Friday July 13th 12:00-1:00pm at POLIS Project on Ecological Governance (University House 4), please contact communication"at"uvic.commonenergy.org if you are interested in learning more on how to edit the wiki!

[edit] Summer Leisure and Learning

Starting this Friday (June 22, 2007 at 12:00pm), Common Energy is partnering with the Graduate Students' Society (GSS) to have an fun informative discussion at the IQ Bistro.

The topic for this week's discussion will be Carbon Offsets; How can or should they be used in strategies to avoid catastrophic climate change.

All are welcome and encouraged to come! --B 15:50, 18 June 2007 (PDT)

[edit] Coming soon: Local Food Specials in the Sub!

This is so cool it gets it's own news headline. The Health Bar and Felicitas will be starting a local weekly special in the next couple weeks! Help support this initiative by buying the special and ensure we can expand. The local special will likely be a soup and possibly salad item to start. Should be good! Kudos to Caitlin and the UVSS exec. -09:04, 8 June 2007 (PDT)

[edit] We are not alone

If you need anymore proof that the campus sustainability movement is becoming massive, check out the 'Lastword' section of the latest David Suzuki Foundation member newsletter 'Finding Solutions'. Dr. Suzuki relates his experiences with (and admiration for) campus sustainability movements across the country on his 'If you were Prime Minister' tour. Yeehaw, the more the merrier!

[edit] Done a CE Event? Tell CE how it went!

News can be a good area for a brief review of how a CE event went for those who are interested but were not able to attend. So if you did an event feel free to let the rest of us know how it went!

  • Maybe put in some things that worked well, and some things that did not as well. It can be helpful to prevent the rest of us from making the same mistakes (for eg. getting catering from McDonalds for the Food group = disaster ;)

[edit] UVic Business School Sets Goal of Going "beyond carbon neutral"

This morning the UVic Business school made a goal for going "beyond carbon neutral" within five years. Common Energy has been working with Business school over the past couple of months to advise them on the strategies for accomplishing this goal and we'll keep working with them as they develop their plan to achieve it.

[edit] Created a Reference Style Guide

The Reference Style Guide is designed to make referencing easy for users and consistent in the document. One of the more important things for pulling this progress report together is that we have good referencing.

Please check out the style guide to keep our internal communication as smooth as possible! (23:46, 3 April 2007 (PDT))

[edit] Post More Pics on the Wiki
