- break out groups have begun to discuss
A)Envisioning an engaged community -Utilize both maintream media and indie media- using them as outreach opportunities
-should it be forcing engagement or asking fo engagement
B)What organization/governance bodies need to be created to engage community
-office of community based research
-include university networks
-linking regional organization (green maps)
-outreach plan- involving more then the usual association (not just the greens) -strategic plan
-Innovation and development
-alumini association (use there network)

Active enagement -through the our children and circulum
-create programs for youth like PEACE CORP
-Continued discussion about media- involving a partnership between research/University/ and media organizations.
-Utilize the University as leaderships in the engagement process
-Engage through consultation between researchers and community and governance -Gap between awarness and action

Moving from negative framing- aviod fear apeals (not helping)

How did information about alcoholism deceminate- effectively to change common perception as a method of engagement?
How do we create accountablity about research funding? as away to keep people engaged. Can we dialogue more openly about campus research such as organizations like VENUS And NEPTUN.

engaging organization -CRD roundtable on the environment -the office of community based rearch- civic engagement as corner stone

Is there a data based of possible reasearch and areas of investigation- between UVic and surrounding communities- if not could we create one which utilizes student- creating reseaching and employeement

CSAF engagement

How can we incorporate the CSAF into the bigger discussion of Carbon neutrality? -What work has been done by this coordinator- and we access and utilize some of their resources

Direct engagement (Practical Solution) -Video/Film nights - like the Sierra Club Energy film fest. We could also show these videos to the governace structures - Focusing- How can we make those who make decisons aware through civic engagement - present to the CRD- about influencing sustainable development - Read into public record at meetings so that it is difficult to be ignored.
-We want to influence BOG-How?

How can we mobalize citizens like North Saanich? They had 800 people show up to vote on Strategic planning.

Building relations model- as a passive way of engaging
-Run student for local CRD counsil (there are 13)
Create a climate crisis task force- like the one being attempting in Oak Bay
Create a roadshow- to bring to the different municipalities knowledge about climate change
Create a competition for the greenest municipalities- a municipal challange
we need to engage the students by going to where they are- go to the classes! More outreach
Create more outreach. Like a booklet

How do we get those with authority open the door for input from us?
How can we make people less affraid of engaging municipalities?
How do we ride the climate change wave?
Which level of influence do we want to have?
Create a green olympics- who would we use as green embassitors?
