[edit] Entertainment

  • Very happy with the band. Excellent choice.
  • Would have like to have had them play when more people were still around. Possibly move them earlier or put them on (fully) before dinner

[edit] Speakers

  • Exceeded time limits (in some cases greatly)
  • Need to be strict about time constraints
  • In the future, 5 min absolute max if we are trying for a cafe-style
  • Need to approach them earlier (one of the very first tasks)
  • Share organic gift baskets were great.

[edit] Food

  • Excellent. Working with the chefs was very helpful!
  • Pickup too longer than anticipated but was successful

[edit] Registration/Entry

  • Entry was too slow! No need for people with tickets to wait in line.
  • If people have a ticket, they do not need to be checked off the list
  • Maybe have a permanent greeter
  • Alphabetize the list to make it quicker
  • On-line registration added complications. In the future have only in-person sales or on-line. The email reservations were a hassel and also complicated by the auto-reply (once sold out) not working.
  • Cut off on-line the day before the event. Advertise that this will be the case.

[edit] Pre-dinner

  • Info-fair was successful
  • CE was poorly represented! We had planned on having the Planning Projects posters there with people from CE to represent them. In the future this should be a major focus! Get those who see that we can put on a good event, and hear talks about climate, to get involved.
  • We should have had a conference-registration table setup!
  • Time constraints for all of CE were major prior to the event (a chronic CE problem). This should be dealt with to allow for more CE participation in the dinner.
  • Make the music a bit more prevalent or have the band on.
  • Farmers didn't come. This is likely due to a lack of prior notice. Since we were worried about budget, it would be best in the future to let them know at least a week prior so they can plan to attend.
  • Caitlin's farmer map was very good. Nice touch.

[edit] Logistics

  • Microphone from the Church had no volume control. Use the band PA next time
  • We overlooked who would handle the tea, not a major issue as it was handled well, but would be nice if we had a point person on this beforehand.
  • Very handy to have a bike with panniers for errands during the day (in addition to the truck for larger stuff)
  • Donations box!

[edit] Post-dinner

  • Plan for a lot of Compost!
  • 2 vehicles would have been nice (or a bigger truck)

[edit] Volunteers

  • Give them some sort of tag so that organizers can identify them if we need a hand
  • 20 volunteers + 7 organizers + 4 chefs was an absolute minimum. Any extras would have been useful for non-kitchen work
  • Kudos to the dishwashers!

[edit] Promotions

  • CBC thing worked well. Do that more in-advance in the future.
  • Cross-promote with the conference.
