[edit] Campus Events

Many of our members are involved with other groups on campus, here are some of their events. Additionally, other groups on-campus, including the UVic Sustainability Office regularly put on events. The Sustainability Office also lists campus events on their website. Check it out!

[edit] Invent the Future Design Lab

Showing up will get you pizza, your ideas could get you money

Common Energy is hosting a design lab to collaboratively develop submissions for BC Hydro's Invent the Future ideas contest. Invent the Future is a contest for ideas about energy conservation, sustainable energy, sustainable products or sustainable lifestyle choices. There's four $2,500 prizes at stake, and we want you to join us to collaborate on ideas, share pizza, and try to win some money.

Last year Common Energy's food working group won one of the prizes, and we're looking to do even better this year. We'll share the money we win between everyone that attends. Everyone is welcome, the greater the diversity of backgrounds the better.

  • When: 4:30PM to 7:30PM on Monday, October 19th
  • Where: Student Union Building, room B025 (basement of the SUB, stairs are near UVSS Resource Center/Munchie Bar/Cinecenta side of the building)

[edit] Can't make the design lab? You can still submit an idea the normal way - and maybe it could be something from a class.

From the http://www.inventthefuture.ca/ website -

Invent the Future is an idea contest open to people between the ages of 13 and 24. You can submit an essay or a video that describes in detail, your idea about energy conservation, or sustainable energy creation, a sustainable product, or even a sustainable lifestyle choice. BC Hydro has a crew of judges that will vote for the best ideas and four people roll-out with $2,500 each. Sweet and simple.

Entries are due by November 8.

More info on the contest, and how to submit your idea - http://www.inventthefuture.ca/

[edit] Community Events

Common Energy attends, or is otherwise involved with, a number of Community Events as part of our effort to make connections with our community. These events are open to the public for input or to support other groups working to fight climate change. Please feel free to post events as you see fit, and attend as many as you'd like!
