Not really.
[edit] Poster Research
Research review: Caitlin & Brianne gave in their research. Lindsay couldn't make it in. Shauna will send it to Joe via email. Joe has on file but is long and will trim as poster is made.
Joe is going to take the poster research and make up the posters and post on the food page. This will be where others can access it for feedback.
Ask Caitlin for poster sizes, and date of local special start. Brianne is going to make a list of distances from Vic to usual food areas (eg. Calif, China etc.) Posters will have a central theme with pictoral backgrounds. Will be 4 posters total. Next steps section will be spread throughout.
Joe : saw study about organic vs conventional for average distance traveled from farm to shop. Shauna: talked about scale of farm being important. Rather than simply organic vs. conventional. Joe: worried about the grey areas of the food debate Brianne: maybe beware of the idea of 'local' General discussion about what local means and where it is defined.
Summer solstice party is a little too soon so will have to wait till later. Jon mentions that this will be logistically interesting. Everyone feels this will take some planning.
[edit] Community Garden:
Daniel was curious about what we see going on with the campus community garden. Thinks that the garden might donate some of the food to the pocket market for sale there. Also an undergrad student group who gardens there. Interesting experiment around the community garden. Try to get people involved in a new manner with the garden. Proposal for cob house was made but did not succeed. Possibly use some revenue from food sales of market (garden grown food) to pay for upgrades?
Brianne is looking to contact more people from the garden etc for our summit. We have heard back from Daniel but not Maya so will see.
