Meeting Time Template Style Guide
From Common Energy UVic
The Meeting Time Template Style Guide is a style guide for the Common Energy wiki. Please adhere to this guide whenever editing or creating page content.
[edit] Discussion
We want postings on the meetings page to be as easy to use as possible. Remember to post meetings in accordance with the Meeting Protocol. For the sake of consistency and aesthetics, please follow the structure below:
To announce meeting times and places on the wiki, we use templates. This makes it easy to put any meeting time on any page by simply calling the template. Also, it means that when the time and place are updated in the template, they are updated everywhere on the wiki. For more information on how to use templates, check out the tutorial.
The Meeting templates should contain only meeting times and places. Introductory text, such as "this team meets..." should be written on the page that calls the template. If the group has a standard meeting time and place, list that first (day of week at time in place), followed by the details for the current week in bold (The next meeting will be on day of week date). For example:
- Monday at 4:30 pm in room B028 in the SUB at UVic. The next meeting will be on Monday July 30th.
If the group has infrequent or variable meetings, list only the current information in bold (day of week date at time in place). For example, the template page for a group that meets on different days of the week, missing some weeks, could look like this:
- Monday July 30th at 4:30 pm in room B028 in the SUB at UVic
Please note:
- It states when the Team/Working Group regularly meets, and when the next meeting is;
- The day and date are included;
- the location is as descriptive as possible;
- 'am' and 'pm' are in lower case.
[edit] Postponed Meetings
If the meeting has been postponed, or the next meeting time has not been determined, please do one of two things. If the group has a standard meeting time, include that first:
- Mondays. The next meeting is To Be Announced.
If the group does not have a standard meeting time:
- The next meeting is To Be Announced.
[edit] New Formats
If the format you require is not described above, please make sure that your template completes the phrase "the group meets..." and is also able to stand on its own. Put whatever you come up with on the talk page for this style guide, and email the wiki team (ce-wiki(at)googlegroups.com).
