Milestone 2: Creating Baseline Inventory

Milestone 2 of Phase 1 represents Creating a Baseline Inventory as part of the University Challenge Project, and is being currently being refined within the University Challenge Draft Document.
This Milestone holds one of the largest and most complex tasks of the University Challenge. The data collection will require a collaborative effort from different persons and groups across the campus and within the region. This Milestone will most likly take place over a large portion of Phase 1 and will overlap with its consecutive Milestones. For example, the implementation of the action plan in Milestone 5 will most likely begin while the Phase 1 inventory is being compiled.
Points to consider:
- Continuity of data gathered between Organizations (need a unified system for collecting and reporting inventory).
- Creation of a standardized data collection 'framework' by Common Energy.
- Development of indicator sets that match data collected (for use in Milestone 6).
- Create system for organizations to create a simple baseline using "current" practices and purchases vs "changes made". This way the organization can make positive actions and record them before the inventory is complete.
- The University Challenge must provide as much direction, clarity and simplicity as possible when building the inventory collection and reporting system.
- The inventory collection system must be able to fit into any provincial GHG inventory system.
