[edit] Overview

Common Energy has created a new approach. It is one of the most sophisticated approaches to policy consultation that this young author has ever seen or heard of. Continual evolution fueled by continual feedback is the only way to describe the organization and the projects.

This project is an attempt at bringing in the work by many social and behavioural scientists into the evolving ideas of Common Energy. These scientists, who work largely with individualized data, have provided the framework for a system of behavioral change system. So far the idea's common to both this organizations approach and the literature in question are, the importance of community leaders like block leader, the importance of well though "environmental communications"(which are advertisements encouraging environmental conservation behaviours like recycling or proactive environmental behaviours like buying local produce), the importance of believing one actions are making a difference and the "foot in the door" effect (which refers to the ratcheting up of commitment to environmental conservation and proactive environmental stance as well as the behaviours that conform to those attitudes).

The question this project is attempting to answer is, what kind of program most practically promotes sustainable behaviours while being inexpensive, managerially efficient, flexible and still fitting of the institutional structure of UVic?

[edit] Prime Actions

1. A proposed survey of the University Population the point of which is to gather attitudinal data about the sustainable behaviours at Uvic and the Barriers to those behaviours (currently under ethical review).

2. Talking to individuals the working for University about what the possible Uvic sustainability office will look like.

[edit] Tools and Collaboration

[edit] Knowledge Base

The Knowledge Base is a source for climate change information, including summary and analysis materials assembled by Common Energy and information researched by individuals and Working Groups. It also includes links to climate change expertise and other groups working on related issues. (Include this)
