[edit] Wiki Training
Andrew: It's important that people feel comfortable just doing basic edits to satr with.
Andrew has contacted Computer and System services - we can get a small room in Clearihue - need to figure out dates and times and Andrew will email him a list.
So, how should we coordinate that? When should we offer training - how soon?
Caitlin: Should it be seperate from volunteer orientation.
Chris: Should be following that.
Caitlin: Volunteer training part 1 and 2.
Cailtin: HOw long can wiki training be?
Andrew: Probably within an hour or hour and half with tabling. Might be good to have two differnet types of Wiki Training. (ie. for the Geeks at Heart, and the other for the casual user}
Chris: The first one you could associate with orientation - casual user.
Andrew: the one thing we have to balance is making sure people don't feel so comfortable that they feel they can go ahead and do a bunch of editing - people don't reall yhave a good sense of structure.
Chris: Structure/understanding do's and don'ts should be part of the training perhaps?
Andrew: Maybe we should do a simple, here's how to edit, create an account etc - and then have a Module two for the more sophisticated.
Caitlin: Tabling is quite advanced - rarely happens unless you're super heavily involved in Wiki.
Caitlin: At first it's really intimidating to edit on Wiki - what can I do? Can I edit this?
Chris: Could put in sessions the following week to Orientation sessions.
Caitlin: Should keep similar times to orientation sessions.
- Monday, Wednesday lunchtime/afternoon.
- Tuesday, Friday, afternoon/lunchtime.
ACTION: Heather to send Andrew the dates for the orientation sessions.
ACTION: Andrew to then email list of possible Wiki Session on the following two weeks.
[edit] President's Day of Welcome
Chris: We need to figure out how many cards we need, do we need a banner, whose organizing etc?
Caitlin: Do we need to get a banner out by September 4th? Could check how much money is in the club account - could use the remainder of the summer funds.
Andrew's card design = approved!
Chris: Already requested table and backboard, but need to tag someone to get a box for the cards, set up the table and the game.
- Game ideas: Don't want to scare people off with negative quizzes. Could print out a bunch of evaluation games, or climate quizzes.
Andrew: Can alter business card to work for large CE banner.
ACTION: Andrew to do lay-out.
Chris: How are we going to pay for this? We could take a collection.
Andrew: Don't we have money budgeted for conference printing funds?
Caitlin: Guy from Course Union is willing to take cash - or he can give us an invoice and we can send a check in the mail.
Chris: Gives us a bit more time to pay him.
Andrew: do we use Commonenergy.org or uvic.commonenergy.org? The former would allow us to take it to Vancouver.
Caitlin: Would be easier to remember CommonEnergy.org.
DECISION: We will use CommonEnergy.org.
ACTION: Heather to send Naomi and Mark (cc. Andrew and Brandy) an email about potential funding for banner (mention Sept. Conference funds or we'll raise a subscription amongst us).
ACTION: Andrew will print off a couple hundred cards for the President's day and Clubs day.
Eddie: Should check if anyone has previously made plans for the fall budget. Include in email.
Chris: What about posters?
Heather: We will use the ones on the SUB Sustainability Board.
ACTION: Caitlin to forward posters to Andrew to print off.
Chris: Will do climate change game/quiz. When shall we meet? Who should set up and what time?
Caitlin: It's about 9 or 9:30. Starts at 11am.
Andrew: Could add a couple "Why eat local?" posters as well - grab from UVSS office.
ACTION: Caitlin to keep us updated on pending banner.
DECISION: All involved in set-up will meet at the Resource centre at 10am.
[edit] Club and Course Union Days
Recruitment should hold debrief meeting after President's Day to decide how to handle Clubs day.
Caitlin: Need someone to stand in line to book for a clubs table. Sign up will be around 9 in the SUB - don't need to decide whether or not we have a Friday table until that week.
[edit] Felicita's Fundraisers
Caitlin: Kept recieving emails about our last Felicita's fundraiser - says it was really successful.
Eddie: Could potentially hold one after Conference in October as a celebration fundraiser. Will be slightly easier as everyone's plates are quite full at the moment.
Meeting end time: 1:08
