This page delineates what the Coordination Team has the right to oversee and implement for Common Energy UVic, and, in turn, has the responsibility to provide for individuals, the working groups, and the organization.


[edit] Rights: what the Coordination Team has the mandate to oversee and implement.

1.0 the Coordination Team has the right to ensure the working groups are properly facilitated.

  • 1.1 through the proper integration of new members, where they are provided with the information needed to fully contribute in meetings and to the organization at large;
  • 1.2 through the proper facilitation of meetings, and ensuring they follow the correct protocol;
  • 1.3 that decisions are made in a clear, transparent manner, where everyone has the opportunity to participate.
  • 1.4 that modified formal consensus is the decision-making structure;
  • 1.5 that all members have a fair and equal opportunity to contribute in meetings and to the organization.

2.0 the Coordination Team has the right to make or oversee decisions about the logistics of Common Energy UVic events and conferences.

  • 2.1 to make or oversee decisions for events and conference regarding space, food, equipment and resources.
  • 2.2 to make financial decisions for events and conference regarding space, food, equipment and resources.
  • 2.3 to oversee and implement conference and event budgets.

[edit] Responsibilities: what the Coordination Team has the responsibility to provide for individuals, the working groups, and the organization.

1.0 the Coordination Team has the responsibility to provide the working groups and the working group coordinators with the necessary support, tools and resources to ensure proper facilitation of the working groups.

  • 1.1 by clearly communicating CE UVic's mandate and structure, and by providing working group coordinators with the skills to introduce new members into the working groups.
  • 1.2 by ensuring the protocol is clear and effective, that there is adequate, available meeting space, and that working group coordinators have the skills to call and facilitate a meeting in an effective manner.
  • 1.3 by ensuring members understand the structure of the organization, and how decisions are made.
  • 1.4 by ensuring members understand formal consensus decision making, and why we use it.
  • 1.5 by ensuring members understand the importance of having an organization that is fair and inclusive, and have resources available to understand why this is inherent to CE UVic's success.

2.0 the Coordination Team has the responsibility to ensure the decisions made regarding the logistics of Common Energy UVic events and conferences are fiscally responsible, allow for participation of all members and prospective members, and work towards the overarching goals of Common Energy.

  • 2.1 by ensuring the decisions made regarding event and conference space, food, equipment and resources are fiscally responsible, allow for participation of all members and prospective members, and work towards the overarching goals of Common Energy.
  • 2.2 by ensuring fiscal decisions are made in a clear, transparent manner.
  • 2.3 by ensuring conference and event budgets are fiscally responsible.
